We’re thrilled to announce that our newest product, Unami, is now available through America’s largest redistributor - DOT Foods. Mt. Sterling, Ill-based DOT Foods has nine distribution centers serving all 50 states, so US restaurants of all sizes can easily order and serve Unami. Deliveries of Unami began August 26, 2019.
Unami is a unique, texture-driven alternative to freshwater eel (unagi), that is made from eggplant using Ocean Hugger’s proprietary process. The result is a ready-to-use product that is ideal for sushi and rice bowls, as well as more innovative dishes like Japanese-style pizzas and tacos. Unami is vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free.
Our partnership with DOT enables restaurants and foodservice establishments throughout the United States to order Unami easily through their current distributor with low order minimums. Chefs can showcase their commitment to seafood sustainability, while offering innovative options for vegans and flexitarians alike.
